Welcome to the Creative Corner![/b]
Hey there all you fabulous artists This little nook of the forums is where we get to express ourselves, post comments, get some constructive criticism and maybe even gawk at some gorgeous art or two!
SUBMISSION!
I know you kiddies are excited to get your toes wet an get ready for the wave of comments coming your way, but here in these parts of the interwebs, we like to have some sort of order ;D So here are the basic guidelines for posting up your works on this forum:
General:
* On Using Bases:
I understand some users cannot draw or are simply comfortable using pixel dolls as their medium. If this is the case, please link to the original base maker's website when you post up an image.
Images:
Prose & Poetry
Videos/Machinima
General:
- One thread per person :> That way, the boards don't get clogged up.
- Please go through the rest of the submission rules and take a gander at the FAQs before posting. I assure you, this will save us a lot of headaches.
- Please do not use any of the works posted in this forum without the explicit consent of the original creator. If you want to use Ash's kickass artwork for your fancy new avatar/icon, you may, but only if she allows it and if you've spoken to her about it.
- On Yaoi/Yuri: We don't mind a little shonen/shojou-ai around here, but we DO NOT allow anything that go over the PG-13 rating. A sexy makeout scene between Derby and Bif is totally hot and totally okay. A disturbingly detailed picture of Peanut getting it on with Johnny isn't. This isn't a place for porn.
- If any of the admin team catches you stealing any of the works here, you will be flogged. Same goes if you're posting up stolen works, have some self-respect!
- No tracing please? Tracing for practice, is completely fine and should be mentioned as such, but if you traced or copied off an image and passing it off as your own effort, please go be an hero? The admins will be giving you warnings at first however, but if you consciously choose to ignore it, measures will be taken
* On Using Bases:
I understand some users cannot draw or are simply comfortable using pixel dolls as their medium. If this is the case, please link to the original base maker's website when you post up an image.
Images:
- Please resize all images to 600 x 600 pixels before posting. If you really insist on posting a high resolution/larger image, please use a thumbnail and link it to the original sized picture. Hosting sites like Photobucket and Imageshack both offer thumbnails as options after you upload.
- Keep all images PG-13, please. Remember, Bully is a game where a good number of the characters are in their teenage years, so please, NO SMUT. You can post that up on Y!Gallery or Hentai Foundry, but please keep it off the boards. If you're unsure whether or not its safe to post it, it probably isn't. If you think an image is a little risque, please paste it as a link and tag it as NSFW (not safe for work).
- Likewise, please nothing offensive or sensitive! Again, if you're unsure whether or not it's safe to post, it probably isn't-- save it for your personal gallery instead.
Prose & Poetry
- Please make sure the formatting is clear: hit the 'PREVIEW' button before posting to make sure it's readable.
- Remember, the boards now have a character limit; If you want to post a multi-chaptered saga, please break up the chapters into posts (titling them appropriately and clearly) or, post up a blurb and link us to where the story is currently hosted.
- No copypasta! Just like art thieves, we don't like it when someone simply copies and pastes paragraphs off someone else's work. A writer puts in as much effort into his/her own work just as much as a painter or musician does. Please respect that.
Videos/Machinima
- Please include some screenshots from the work and a link to where it's currently hosted.
- A short description about the work never hurt either ;D
FAQS!
Cool! So what can you post here?
Anything that YOU created! It could be sketches you've done of the characters, a little blurb you've written about Bullworth and its inhabitants, a song you made about Jimmy Hopkins or even a machinima (video)!
Anything?
We don't tolerate traces; that's when you trace over an existing image/photo over Photoshop. Neither do we tolerate stealing art; that's when you take an existing picture or even fanfiction over the web, make a few adjustments here or there, post it up and claim it's yours.
If we catch you doing any of these, warnings will be sent out. If you ignore the warnings and keep posting stolen work, consider yourself banned. We don't support art thieves here :>
Wow umm... but what if I can't draw?
You're free to post anything so as long as it has a creative edge! You sculpt? Post it up! You write your own music? POST IT UP! You write awesome prose? Post that up now!
But I want to show how my characters look like!
If you want to include a picture of your character, you can do that in their respective profile or in one of the chat threads. Bottom line is: if you didn't draw it or create it, it doesn't belong here.
What if I made custom content for a game? (ex: custom clothing for The Sims 2, custom models and maps for Team Fortress 2, etc.)
You can post it up (and hey, upload it so we can download it too!) BUT ONLY if you had created the original mesh/recolor/texture/map/props of the custom content yourself. If you're just showing us someone else's hard work, you can do that in the Big Ol' Big Thread instead.
What is constructive criticism?
A constructive criticism is possibly the best comment we can get from anyone. Basically, it's when you point out flaws in a person's work and suggest ideas to make it better.
Ex: I think her arms are too long and her face looks a bit odd; try shortening the arms and elongate her face.
However, do NOT troll, that's when you downright insult the artist and the work that's been posted up. If you want to help out and offer advice, let us know what you LIKE and DISLIKE about the posted works and give out suggestions to make it better.
What about Photography?
This one is tricky; but if you're cosplaying a character from Bully and you made the wig/hair/costume/accessories/make-up yourself, feel free to post it up.
