Hey I'm going to be driving back to California for (hopefully) three days. Something bad came up. My cousin is in trouble with a copyright issue he didn't know existed. He video taped a video game playthrough for a new game and they got him in trouble. Since he's 15 years-old his parents are in trouble as well due to him being caught playing an M rated video game (total bullshit) and he's also in trouble because the gaming company have him in trouble because of the law. The law states that a video game that hasn't been out for 28 days are illegal to video tape which is incredibly stupid! Not many people know about the law and they're getting in trouble and being thrown in the slammer. If they catch the video within the 28 day law then you will be a "felon" (Imagine how hard it is to get a job when you're a felon) and could be thrown in jail for 8 years. Which in this case could be his parents and him being put into protective custody. The law is bullshit! See you when I get back, I leave tomorrow morning. I'm not leaving yet but I won't have enough time to log in tomorrow morning.

I'll be back soon. The thing that happened has me a little worried though. This law is total crap and I hope it doesn't happen to any of you or your family and friends.

Yeah well, that's big companies for you. Money talks and if they can lobby hard enough for a law as silly as that, they can and they will :< Unfortunate. Sorry to hear about what's happened though, it's such an honest mistake to make, couldn't they have just slapped the kid on the wrist and make him wait for a month before he continues video taping?
Silly.
I hope it all turns out okay. Don't worry about us, we'll have the place running anyway, so whenever you come back you can just jump right back in like you were never gone ahahah.

Ugh, utter silliness. Hope all goes okay for you guys. Totally don't worry about missing time, too, we all take time off for our schedules

He has a hearing January 21st. I hope his parents don't get in trouble for him playing a rated M video game. There's no law against it but they still brought it up.

They can't sell it to kids, there's nothing wrong with someone older than 18 buying it and giving it to him.
Like cigarettes.
It's not illegal, just frowned upon.
I got GTA when I was 9 lololol

Aww that's awful :< Sorry to hear about that man. You would've thought that the courts would've used some sort of discretion on the kid, but alas, I guess the big corporations have a bigger say than common sense :<
I hope everything turns out well though, in the end. You go ahead and rest :>
