Short Bio
Clay McKinley was born and raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Early in his childhood, his parents went through a bitter divorce that forced Clay to be shared between them. While he developed a loving relationship with his mother, his father devolved into a drunken mess who would emotionally abuse Clay just because he could. Even at the few points when the abuse turned physical, Clay was too terrified to tell anyone so he kept it to himself. This was the case for many years until the day his father suffered a stroke and died.
Unable to completely resolve years of suffering, Clay sunk into a depression that was only lifted when his uncle Hyrum offered him a job with his construction company. Things seemed to improve for a while, as Clay found work to be a good outlet for his feelings. This didn’t sustain, however, as some of the coworkers decided to make him their new bullying target. This carried into school, where their kids mocked him for one reason or another. Because he was taught by his mother not to be a troublemaker, he took the abuse for a couple years.
Then one day, a group of coworkers cornered him and became more aggressive than usual. Insults turned into shoves, shoves turned into slaps and eventually a fight broke out. What shocked everyone, however, was that while Clay suffered several injuries from the fight, what he did to the other guys was even worse! And they were all older than him too! No one had seen him even harm a fly prior to this point, but it became clear that there was something wrong that construction work wasn’t helping.
Worried for her son’s future, Clay’s mother decided that it might be time for a change of scenery. His uncle and aunt recommended a special boarding school that several kids in their extended family had gone to that might help Clay find his bearings and get away from bad scenarios. After much prayer and consideration, everyone decided it was for the best. And so, after some hassle to transfer Clay’s records, he has arrived at Bullworth Academy. He has no idea what he is getting into, but it couldn’t possibly be that bad right?
